Mission Awareness Projects

2006 began a new chapter for Women in Focus as we joined up with the CBM STEP program for three years. (STEP stands for Serving, Training, Energizing, Partnerships.)
The Women in Focus STEP Partner for 2006 – 2008 is Kenya. There are two components to being a STEP partner: raising a set amount each year and sending out a short term mission team. We have commited to raising $10,000 each year in support of four ministries in Kenya: Leadership Development, Community Development, Mission Outreach and the (HIV/AIDS related ministries). We had such a good response to the short term mission trip that we ended up not only having one team, but two! Both teams are in place. Women in Focus Kenya Team #1 will be there from October 12-28, 2007, and Kenya Team #2 is scheduled for February 15-March 2, 2008. These women will have the privilege of learning and growing as they spend time encouraging our Christian brothers and sisters in Kenya. What can you do? Please pray for the teams as they prepare and also for their time in Kenya. (Please contact Moreen Sharp at moreen.sharp@yahoo.ca if you would like more information.) Also, please consider ways in which the women of your church might hold a fund-raising tea or special event that could contribute toward our STEP commitment.
TUNI SCHOOL PROJECT We, as women of Canadian Baptists of Western Canada, will be joining with our sisters across the country (Canadian Baptist Women) to give financial aid for the Tuni School for Women in India. This aid will help with upgrading their facilities. Tuni School is for disadvantaged young women, aged 16 - 25. At this school, the young women gain an education, Christian training and technical training in tailoring, painting and embroidery giving them opportunities in life they could never have otherwise. We are pleased to be able to be a part of this CBM project in India.		2007 Graduation Ceremony at Tuni School for Women
For tax deductible donations, please make your contributions through your church which will forward the funds to our treasurer, designated to either STEP or Tuni School.
